Nationwide Children's Hospital Reduces cost with Scriptel eSignature Pads
The Client
Named to the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World Report's 2018-19 list of "Best Children's Hospitals," Nationwide Children's Hospital is one of America's largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric health care systems providing wellness, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative care for infants, children and adolescents, as well as adult patients with congenital disease. Nationwide Children's has a staff of more than 13,000 providing state-of-the-art pediatric care during more than 1.4 million patient visits annually.
The Situation
In 2009, Nationwide Children's joined hospitals across the country and deployed Epic software, but decided not to implement eSignature devices from the start. Several years later, Christine Reams, Project Lead and Epic Analyst at Nationwide Children's and her team began evaluating what, at the time, was the only vendor of Epic compatible eSignature pads. However, there were significant complications during the implementation process and frustrations began to grow.
The Opportunity
Christine came across an article about Scriptel's product offerings. "At the time we didn't know there were other vendors out there who could offer us an eSignature device," said Christine. She wanted to learn more.
The Decision
After connecting with Scriptel and receiving sample devices, Christine and her team went to work and began testing. They soon discovered just how easy Scriptel's pads worked within Nationwide Children's Citrix-based system because Scriptel was an Epic target platform and used native USB end-to-end technology and was able to support all the features available from the Epic eSignature API, Nationwide Children's Hospital decided to switch their implementation to Scriptel.
