There might not be a more wasteful practice than printing a form — especially a multi-page one — for the sole purpose of getting a signature.
This is especially true of healthcare organizations that are using an electronic health record (EHR) to reduce paper and ensure a complete, clinician-accessible patient record. That was the case at University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UI Health), where more than 10 peripherals needed to change throughout numerous facilities, including signature pads.
